Oh. My. Gosh. My feet/legs are in so much pain. Pippa, Adriana, Aden, and I went to the zoo. We got moving a little late (Aden woke up at 10 instead of 9!) but at 12 we were waiting in line to see Beco the baby elephant! Thank the Lord I'm not an elephant because I don't think I could be pregnant for 22 months and give birth to a 300 pound baby. Must be painful. Anyways, Aden was awake the entire time. He took probably 2 ten minute naps and just looked around for the rest of the 5 hours we were there. It's a miracle he didn't get sunburnt!!! Mommy did :(

We got home around 6..perfect timing! I left him with Aunt Lizzie, Nana, and Papa (Daddy was at the store getting pills for his poison ivy that has now made its way up to his face) while I went to the store to get Ryan's graduation gift and a gift for brand new baby Charlie! Charlie is Ryan's Aunt and Uncles 3rd baby boy... if that makes any sense at all. Charlie was born on Memorial day and is the same size Aden was when he was born! Ryan saw him and cannot believe Aden used to be that tiny. I'm so excited to see them tomorrow at Ryan's graduation party! When I got home, Aden, of course, didn't take a nap. At all. He ate again at 9, fell asleep at 9:30 and woke up again at 9:35. I literally had to hold his pacifier in his mouth, sing to him and have nothing else on. I had to turn my phone on silent! That's a first! He got to sleep at 10:20.

We have another long day ahead of us. Ryan's graduation is tomorrow at 9 a.m. and yes, I am taking Aden. Right after that is his graduation party. I can just imagine how Aden will sleep tomorrow night. bummer. Well, I'm off to bed. Just took an advil to ease my pain. Yeah, I'm probably out of shape. Maybe if the stroller wasn't 50 pounds......

And for once I have no pictures! I was too lazy to upload them. Maybe tomorrow. Probably Sunday.

It's been a long day! Aden slept well again.. 10:15 to 6:40 and 7:15 to 9. He has been wanting attention all day! I finally did his laundry after 20 days. I started at 10 a.m. and finished putting away the last piece at 6:15. Never doing that again. This is what I washed today :

1 Boppy Cover
1 Bib
1 Hat
1 Bath robe
1 Pair of overalls
1 jacket
5 Boppy changing mats
6 Rompers
7 washcloths
8 Towels
9 Burp Cloths (I washed some a week ago)
10 Sleep n' plays
11 T-shirts
12 shorts
13 Pants
22 Pairs of socks
30 Onesies

I don't really use bibs unless he is wearing a really nice outfit. My theory is, baby's are meant to be messy! Also, when Aden spits up it goes farther than where the bib covers. That's probably why I went through 3o onesies. Whoa.

I also printed out all my pictures of Aden that I had saved on my computer. I got doubles of most for a reason I'll reveal later... so the total number of pictures came out to be 251. Yes, 251 pictures for a 2 1/2 month old. Poor kid. His first picture album is almost full! Aden fell asleep for the first time today at about 7:15 p.m. I didn't even get to change him into his jammies! Good thing it isn't bath night!

Ryan has his baccalaureate mass tonight (mass before graduation) but luckily he will be coming over after. I'm so impressed with him! He has been over almost everyday this week, even with finals. He even brought me McDonalds one day! Yes, McDonalds. I'm not sticking to eating healthy at all. For lunch today I DID have a bagel with cream cheese and a salad. That's kind of healthy right? And quiche for dinner. I'll probably have some Wendy's later on! I can't go a whole day without meat, I just don't feel full!

Tomorrow Pippa and I are taking Aden and Adriana (her daughter who was born 6 days after Aden) to the zoo! Not like they will even notice where they are. but still!

These pictures are pretty horrific, I know. Except for the one of my little man :)

Another lame day! I think I am going to do Aden's laundry tomorrow. Not because I have to... just because his hamper (which is big!) is overflowing with clothes and now he even is taking up space in my hamper. Plus I don't want him to grow out of things before I can get to laundry :)

Today was Ry Guy's last day of high school. Woo woo, he's a college man!

Aden was wearing such a cute outfit but of course, he spit up all over it. My rule is, you don't get two cute outfits in one day! Oh, and I switched from slow flow nipples to medium flow! He has been falling asleep during feedings and hasn't increased hardly at all since 6 weeks. He eats about 4 1/2 to 5 ounces. Maybe this will speed things up. Taking 45 minutes for one bottle is exhausting!

Another rough night! Aden woke up at 1, 4, 6:30, and 9. I have no idea what it is! Oh well, he is still cute :)

Today was just a lazy day, we didn't do much. He took a nap with me at 3 which was refreshing! Now we're watching the cavs game. He ate at 9 so i'm hoping he'll sleep for awhile. I'm off to bed :)

5/25/09- Happy Memorial Day!

Happy (late) Memorial Day to all! Aden had a really rough night on Sunday night, allowing me to get about 3 to 4 hours of sleep. Probably because he slept all day! Somehow we managed to make it to the Worthington Parade at 10 being fed, changed, awake, and happy. Good times. Aden slept through the drums and cannons but woke up when the sirens started. He loved being outside! I got to talk with Teresa and Kristin.. friends since kindergarten! It's not often I get to do that!

Uncle Blake and Cousin Brandon left yesterday at about 12. Aden was sad to see them go, he is once again outnumbered. We had a nice cookout yesterday with Daddy, Charla Rae (Aden's godmother), Nana, Papa, and Great Grandma Jeanne! Ryan was such a help and took care of Aden while I did the whole bottle washing stuff.

I promised Ryan that I would start watching more movies with him ( I hate movies so much) so he brought over Valkyrie. I love learning about WWII so he picked the perfect movie! It was really interesting but pretty much everyone gets executed. I mean, you knew it was coming, seeing as Hitler wasn't assassinated, but still. They were SO close!!

Great day to spend with family! Plus, Aden looked so darn cute in his little hat!

**P.S. Jon and Kate Plus 8 made me cry! I feel so bad for their family!

Long time no post! (2 days is a lot for me). We have had an exciting couple of days! On Friday it was VERY warm so Aden and I took a trip to K-Mart to get a baby pool! I had checked Wal-Mart and they didn't have ANY! At least that I saw. We got a big enough one so that I could fit into the pool with him and sit with him. Apparently I didn't think through the fact that it would be really difficult to fill up with cool (not cold) water. It took Ryan and his friends to bring out huge jugs of hot water and make it warm enough for Aden it sit in. Thanks guys!!! We'll be making a trip to another store soon to get a smaller one!
Anyways, Aden LOVED his pool! He sat there and was so happy to be outside and in his bathing suit! I'll upload a few photos now and I'll do the rest later.

On Saturday My uncle blake, my cousin brandon, and my grandma all came to meet Aden. We ate yummy brats on the grill and then watched the Lakers game. Lakers wonnn :)

Last night Aden ate at 7, went to bed at 8, and then woke up at 3:40, 6:30, and 10:45. I got lots of good sleep and Ryan even let me feed Aden in bed! Aden is a loud eater and Ryan is usually tired from rugby so I got lucky! He didn't even seem to mind! Such a good dad! My grandma, my parents, my uncle, my cousin, my sister, Aden, and I all went to el vaquero for dinner! I forgot how much I loved their chimichanga's! Oddly enough, I got more heartburn this time when I ate there than I did when I was pregnant... hmmm!

Aden is exhausted today. On Friday and Saturday I tried to put him in his crib and he just screamed the whole time. We are easing into it now... he has times when he plays in there, sometimes with me, sometimes alone. I'm trying to make him a little more comfortable in there. It's gonna be tough though, knowing he'll sleep 7 or 8 hours with me and moving to sleeping 2 or 3 hours at a time and wanting to wake up and be rocked back to bed. It'll be OKAY though! For the time being I don't mind snuggling with him, especially when Ryan isn't here.

Anyways, Aden is already fast asleep. He woke up at 9 to eat 2 1/2 ounces and then just passed out while eating. So exhausted. I'm glad he has set HIMSELF a bedtime though! Good boy!! Enjoy the pics :)

Another great night! Slept from 10 to 5:30 and then from 6:00 to 10:30! He woke up at 7:30 to smile for fifteen minutes at daddy and then went right back to sleep. We went grocery shopping and it was his first trip AWAKE at the grocery store. He smiled and had lots of fun! Some lady came up and did the "this little piggy.." on his toes. That kind of creeped me out...I'd never do that to a child I didn't know..especially when the mom is standing right there looking at you like wtf?

It was pretty hot out (85) and Aden had a breakdown when we got home. It was a mixture of hotness and hungriness so I held him in front of the freezer for a minute to cool him down. I'm a classy mom, I know. We went over to Pippa's to see Adriana! She is so funny and is such a drooler. Once again they didn't notice each other. Bummer. Pippa and I are planning a zoo trip next week though! Baby fun time! Aden actually took a nap today! from 6 to 7! The only way that happened was when we were driving home from Pippa's he fell asleep and I kept him in the carseat when we got home. He's been asleep since 9 and it's 11:30 now. He ate at 8 so tonight probably won't be a great night. Oh well :)

He had on 3 outfits together. The "lion around" one he spit up on but I just left it on until 3. Right when I changed him into the dinosaurs he spit up ALLLLLL over it. I mean pools of spit up in the creases. So pleasant. Ended up wearing a very flamboyant outfit (kind of like hot pants) that I wasn't too fond of. It was the only thing with me at the time. He rocked it. Notice there are no pics of that outfit :) The "Give me Hugs" on it was a little too much for my liking.

About the picture in the bath tub: Aden has decided that that is where he likes to hang out. When I'm doing my make up or hair that is where he lays and he is very happy with it. The other picture was Aden being "passed out pete" (as daddy says) in the wee hours of the morning. Can you believe it? I was up before him. I woke HIM up.

Update: So I ate cheese and crackers for lunch and a little chicken and mashed potatoes for dinner. I felt good about myself until about 30 minutes ago when I decided I needed bagel bites, salt and vinegar chips, and carrots to get me through the night. Hey, there was carrots.. that makes it healthy. I'm thinking a one piece Speedo is in order for this summer.

**I have still not done Aden's laundry since May 8th. I am on a roll. I'm running out of towels though.

Such a nice day today! Aden slept from 9 to 5:30! He loved the carpet cleaning machine so he took another long nap from 10 to 12. Aden and I went to Grandma Angie's to see Aunt Kaitlyn and Aden was awake the ENTIRE time. He was so much fun. I took a 30 minute nap.. I forgot how grumpy I always get after naps though! Ryan didn't think that was so fun. We had a yummy dinner of chicken enchiladas and came home. Aden took a 15 minute nap and then decided he wanted to play again. It is now 11:12 and he is finally asleep. Long tiring day. That's all.

Tuesday, May 19, 2009

It is HOT! Even though I would rather be in 105 degree weather than ever be the slightest bit cold, it's a lil' sticky over here. Poor Aden was sweating through his baseball outfit so I chose his jammies to be a light onesie and some socks. I like seeing his chubby thighs hangin' out anyways!

Last night was incredibly hard. He slept from 11 to 2 and stayed awake until 5:15. I tried just about everything to get him to bed. finally I laid him on his boppy, stuck a pacifier in his mouth, and he went to bed. Of course I had to wait a good 25 minutes before I could move him so he wouldn't wake up in the process. Then of course he awoke at 7 to eat again. The GOOD news is he slept from 10:30 to 12:44. Yes, I slept until 12:44. So shoot me :)

He just had a plain old fussy day today. Took a couple 15 min naps but that's about it. I had to wash bottles and do all that fun stuff so I just put him in his bouncer and brought it under his favorite light fixture and pointed it out the window. He kept crying for like 5 seconds and then he'd see the light fixture and stop. He did that until I was done with everything. I wish he would just find his darn thumb!

In the afternoon he just would not stop so I turned on Salt-N-Peppa's "Push It" and laid him on my bed and just danced around for 15 minutes. He LOVED it and it was a great work out for me. I'm sure I would look like a complete idiot if someone were taping me but hey, it worked and that is all that matters.

I have made two new promises to myself. One is that I will stop eating pizza for every meal. We have those frozen California Pizza Kitchen pizza's in our freezer and I pretty much eat those all day. My excuse is that it's fast and easy but I know that other things are faster and easier to make. The second is that I will learn to cook actual food. I can cook pasta and simple things like that but I can't cook meat. Seeing as Ryan and I are both big meat eaters (especially steak) I should probably learn to cook some. I have a cook book and I hope that soon I can find the time to practice. Ryan- you're gonna have to help me out with that!

I really would like to lose another 5 to 10 pounds. I'm nowhere close to being bikini ready and I plan on going to Georgia this summer. Everyone says "Oh don't worry you JUST had a baby" but I know that I could work a lot harder to get this 'overhang' to go away! I DID work out when I was 6 and 7 weeks pp but then it just kind of... died off. Aden started being awake more and more and it was harder to find the time. He also stopped sleeping as well after his 8 wk growth spurt so I've been extra tired. My goal is to go on more walks and just do some crunches. It's not much but it's more than I've done before. Before I was pregnant I never had to work out or anything and I was a 00. I even wore a 14 slim in abercrombie kids pants. I don't hope to be THAT skinny but I'd just like to be... toned. I guess when I was pregnant I shouldn't have lived off of pizza, pasta and popcorn. I did drink a TON of water though and ate lots of veggies. Well, I guess I pretty much ate everything in my path.

Here is where I am with my weight:
Before Pregnancy: 93 pounds (gross)
2 Days before I delivered: 156 pounds (again, gross.)
6 weeks pp: 115 pounds
10 weeks pp: 106 pounds

* I guess its not that I need to LOSE more weight. Just the belly now. I can't suck in for the rest of my life!

Anyways- just hung the picture of Aden and I up in the nursery. I really want to get some done with Ryan, Aden, and I to hang in both Ryan and I's room and the nursery.

Here's some pics of Aden in his cute little Daddy's Rookie outfit and some in his jammies.

5/18/09 #2

So nothing happened today but cleaning. Here are some pics of his adorable little polo. It's a 6 to 9 month outfit so it is a bit big. Hopefully I'll have a more exciting day tomorrow! enjoy the pics!

Baptism Pictures

Here are more of Aden's Baptism pics!

5/18/09 #1

This morning is NOT off to a good start! After feeding Aden at  6:30, we were just laying and cuddling. I turned my head for 2 seconds and I heard a burp and looked over and saw about 3 ounces of what used to be formula being spit up ALL over EVERYTHING! It got all over him, on his boppy, on my sheets and comforter, and on every single piece of my clothing.

Ahhh, the joys of parenting. This is Aden after he got all cleaned up... of course he fell back asleep.

5/17/09- Aden's baptism!

Today was so wonderful! Aden, at 10 weeks old and 1 day, was baptized at St. Brendan's Church in Hilliard, Ohio! All of Ryan's family from Lancaster was present and my family was too! It was so great to get everyone together and celebrate this joyful time! We were so happy to have the Bartelt's be there and be Aden's godparents! Such a blessing!

Aden looked like a little amish baby in his christening outfit. It was worn by Daddy AND Grandpa Kiger! I will be sure to post pictures of his close-ups later! We had a wonderful dinner and get together after at Grandma Angie's. Ryan and I feel so lucky to have so much family close by. Though the beginning of the day was stressful, it turned out to be great. We've had a long day so I will write more tomorrow. Enjoy these 2 pics, I will post more later!

What a great day! Aden slept terrific last night! Probably because daddy was there! He's been kind of a grump all day though! I had lots of returns to do today. I was planning on going without Aden but got to the store and forgot my wallet at home so I had to drive back home anyways! We had fun! He always gets compliments when he is out :)

Daddy, Aden and I had our first family outing to Tuttle Mall! We got Aden some baptism booties that he will be wearing tomorrow! We went back to Grandpa K.'s house and had some DELICIOUS pizza subs! I had one when I was pregnant and I have been craving them ever since! Before we left, Ryan showed me this amazing DVD he made for me. It has pictures from when I was barely pregnant up until now. It was really eye opening to see how fast time goes by. I remember when I was 12 weeks pregnant and showing my mom how "big" my belly was. I'd kill to look like I did when I was 12 weeks haha. It also had all of our home videos... It was horrifying seeing my pregnant, swollen body when I was laying in the labor and delivery room. It was really a great present and I'm so lucky to be able to have it and show to all my friends and family! Thanks Ryan :)

It's 11:04 and Aden is still not asleep yet. He is so overwhelmed with the day that he just doesn't know what to do. I'm praying he sleeps well tonight! I took some pictures with Daddy and Aden... the two most handsome men I know :)

Friday, May 15, 2009

Today was such a rough day! Aden was up a lot last night so I got a total of 4 hours of sleep. Thankfully we took a nap together from 10 to 12 which saved me from going insane! He has been wanting to eat every hour but only eats 2 -3 ounces in his 4 ounce bottle! Waste of formula AND no long naps. Frustrating.

At about 3:30 we went to my old job to visit some friends. We didn't stay so long due to his fussiness and to the fact that his shoes kept falling off. It was HOT out today so he got to wear some shorts! This is totally lame but I'm seeing how long I can go without doing his laundry. Not because I'm dirty or hate doing it (because laundry is my favorite chore, no joke!) but because he has so many gosh dang clothes and i'm just curious. So far it's been since Saturday March 9. We are running low on pants so good thing it was shorts weather out!

Aden has been fussy 90% of the night. Won't take a pacifier, won't eat hardly anything, won't sleep. A lot of times he does this right before he drops a big load. He has to build it all up and then BLAM! at 2 in the morning I get a huge stinky present. Ahhh motherhood. At one point in the night I laid him on his tummy time mat on his back on my bed and just laid there holding a pacifier in his mouth with one hand and closing my eyes. That worked for about 10 minutes. Aden's dad, Ryan, finally came over today and is downstairs holding him. I can hear Aden fussing so lets just see how long this lasts.

Well, off to wash bottles again. WORST CHORE EVER. and possibly the most annoying. Then maybe i'll shower! It's funny how showering is a luxury now. It's my most cherished time of the day. Not having to do it with a baby in the room in a swing is even more rare! I'm hoping tonight is better but by the piglet-like squeals I'm hearing, I doubt this will be easy. Oh well. Cherish the moments while they are still on your side.

Thursday, May 14, 2009

Today was honestly pretty lame. Aden USED to sleep from 10 to 6. Then it went to 11 to 5:30. Now it's just bad. He was up at 12, 2, 5, and 9. Yes, I know this is good for most babies but going from 8ish hours of sleep to this is no fun! He slept next to me on the boppy last night.. A step up from the night before when he would only sleep curled in my arm. I'm gonna try cribbin' it tonight. Let's just see how this goes!!

Since it was rainy we pretty much laid in bed until 11. He ate 6 whole ounces (usually its 3 1/2 to 4 1/2) so he was ready to play! He is so entertaining in the mornings and loves to just smile and kick. I have no problem with watching him for an hour! After his feeding at 12 he was super fussy so I laid him in his bassinet and said "ok Aden, play!" Probably not the best mothering tactic but he laid in there for half an hour just kicking and staring out the window. What an intellectual! During these morning outfits he managed to spit up on 2 outfits. I ended up just leaving the second one on. No harm done!

When Nana got home we took about a 2 mile walk.. okay maybe 1 1/2 mile walk.. to Amber's house to see Hannah! Hannah is SO much tinier than Aden. Makes me miss the days when I could hold him in one arm while feeding him without getting a cramp! This is pitiful but I was pretty exhausted. Maybe I should start eating right again instead of eating like I did when I was pregnant ( I had the appetite of a starving man).

Oh and in both these pictures he is sleeping. Don't think this is what he does all day, it's just the only time I have a free hand to snap a quick picture. 1st one is his first outfit and 2nd is his second of the day.

Well, off to give Aden his bath!

2 month Vaccines

So yesterday, May 12, Aden received 5 vaccines!! 2 shots on his right thigh, one shot on his left thigh, one shot on the back of his left arm and a nasty looking sugary drink that protects against rotavirus. I can't even remember the names of all the ones he received! I know there was whooping cough, rotavirus, DTap... thats all I know! I felt so bad because before we went in to get the shots Aden was so smiley and happy and fell into a deep sleep! He even started laughing in his sleep! Aden has been a little fussy but not in need of any tylenol. He slept pretty terribly last night.. 12 to 2, 3:30 to 5. But then he slept 5:30 a.m to 10:15!!! I feel refreshed today! He has been a bit fussy but nothing I can't handle. He weighs a whopping 11 pounds 7 ounces. (50th percentile) and is 21 1/2 in (10th percentile..oh dear, he is a Peterson) Dr. Brown said nothing to worry about, he'll grow a lot in these next coming months. For being only 6 pounds 15 oz at birth, he is pretty much a big fat man. The picture is taken right when we got back from the doctors. He looks so sad and confused :( poor guy!

Aden is asleep in Nana's arms right now! So precious! I wish it wasn't raining outside or I would take him out for a walk! Stupid Ohio weather!!!

I love telling about my motherhood adventures so I decided to make a blog! I'll start off with my introduction!

My name is Ellyn and I have a 9 1/2 week old son, Aden Joseph. I'm 19 years old and I'm attending school (on hold at the moment but will continue June 29) to become a veterinary technologist. It's a 2 1/2 year program and luckily I can take all evening classes .. no daycare needed!! My parents are awesome and have allowed Aden and I to stay at their house until my schooling is over!

On to Aden.....

Aden was born March 7, 2009 at 12:28 a.m. at 37 weeks gestation.  His original due date was March 28, 2009. Due to high blood pressure I was induced and all went well! Only a 12 hour labor! woo hoo! The 5 days spent at the hospital weren't so great though! Anyways, Aden is developing great! He is so talkative and is a really happy baby. He sleeps anywhere from 5 to 8 1/2 hours during the night. I got so lucky! He is very strong and is now rolling over and tries to put weight on his little legs! Aden is the best thing that has ever happened to me!

This blog will be all about the challenges and joys of being a young mother! It's definitely not easy but it is SO rewarding.
